  • Condenser shotgun mic for DSLR in particular
  • Super-cardioid polar pattern for highly directional recording
  • A 30Hz-20KHz response
  • Low-cut filter at 100Hz that is above the industry average to reduce low-frequency sounds
  • -10dB, 0dB, and +10dB 3-level gain control

Design

SYNCO Mic-M3 is a DSLR microphone launched with a PA-made shock mount that mounts directly to your DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera. It is small enough to not add to the total weight of the device but is strong enough to withstand any movements and vibrations throughout the shooting.

The compact (= Φ32×186mm), lightweight (= 52g) body makes sure that this microphone for camera is portable and easy to carry to different shooting locations. The on/off switch shows on the front of the mic. It consists of three positions, namely off, on, and the low-cut filter which passes the low-end sounds to enhance the high-frequency audio. Besides, an LED light is next to the switch to remind you of any abnormal working statuses. Then it comes a 3-level gain control button, ranging from -10dB, 0dB, to +10dB. This is an adjustment intended to improve the input quality. To minimize the external noises such as the wind or breeze noises, the SYNCO on camera microphone features a cotton wind muff in the front. All these make it exceptionally tolerant to each harsh shooting condition with no breakdowns. The battery housing, present on the back of the mic, easily accommodates two AAA batteries - it takes just a few seconds to replace the batteries!

Performance

As it is a shotgun directional microphone, it works best when the microphone is pointed towards the audio source. But please kindly note that sounds from different directions may be heard also since it is a supercardioid microphone and is fairly balanced directionally.

Regarding the audio quality, we think that it’s incredible - it is focused on the sound source, allowing you to get dynamic frequencies.

Other features

There are two threaded holes on the base of this camera mounted microphone. One is designed to connect the mic with most devices by using the included 3.5mm TRS/TRRS cables and the other is a 3.5mm output interface to achieve real-time monitoring.
