We are glad to announce that the new master-free firmware is now available for the SYNCO Xtalk XPro. Before this update, the Xtalk XPro relied on a central master unit to manage all connections. If the master unit failed or a headset disconnected, it could disrupt the entire network and affect team coordination.
The new Master-Free firmware now enables dynamic connection and decentralized communication for the Xtalk XPro. No master headset is needed, and every unit benefits from low latency and PTT functionality, making team collaboration faster and more efficient.
Let’s learn what’s new in the master-free firmware and how to update your Xtalk XPro.

What’s new in the Xtalk XPro Master-Free firmware?
The SYNCO Xtalk XPro Master-Free firmware brings three major improvements: decentralized communication for easier connections, lower latency for faster response, and Push-To-Talk on all headsets for full control. These upgrades make team communication simpler, faster, and more flexible.
🌟Dynamic connection and decentralized communication
The Master-Free firmware removes the need to assign a master headset and Level-1 headsets. Every Xtalk XPro unit now operates equally in a decentralized structure so that teams can connect dynamically.
Even if one member goes offline, the rest of the group continues communicating without interruption. The system automatically adjusts links as members join or move, making setup instant and communication reliable in mobile or fast-paced environments.
🌟Lower latency for faster response
The new Master-Free firmware for Xtalk XPro reduces the audio latency from 80ms to 60ms, a 25% improvement. This lower latency enables faster reaction and smoother exchanges, helping teams coordinate more efficiently during live operations, construction, or event production.
🌟Push-To-Talk is available on all headsets
Previously, only the master headset had the Push-To-Talk (PTT) function. With the new Master-Free firmware, every Xtalk XPro headset includes PTT, allowing any team member to mute other units instantly with a single press. This feature ensures clear and controlled communication when quick instructions are needed.

Xtalk XPro master-free intercom VS. Xtalk XPro master-based intercom
Unlike the master-based Xtalk XPro, the Xtalk XPro intercom headset with Master-Free firmware offers simpler setup, lower latency, and a Push-To-Talk function for each headset.
However, Xtalk XPro master-free intercom supports connections for up to five users, while the master-based version accommodates up to 13 users and can expand further with the Xtalk Link repeater.
The table below highlights the key differences between the two versions.
| Differences | Master-based Xtalk XPro | Master-free Xtalk XPro |
|---|---|---|
| The number of users | 2-13 | 2-5 |
| Connection | Need to set up a master headset and four Level-1 headsets. | Each headset can connect directly without a master unit. |
| Latency | 80 ms | 60 ms |
| Mute control | Only the master headset can mute all others. | Every headset can mute the entire group. |
| Stability | A disconnected master affects all. | Keeps connecting even if one headset disconnects. |
⚠️Note: The maser-free Xtalk XPro intercom supports up to five users, with more capacity expected in upcoming firmware updates.
